ISMA and its local chapters provide state and local programs to strengthen work skills and advance knowledge of medical assisting, with clinical, administrative and general seminars and workshops.
Medical Assistants can demonstrate their knowledge and commitment to professionalism by earning the Certified Medical Assistant credential. Certification is awarded to candidates who successfully complete the CMA (AAMA) Certifying Examination. Exam applicants must have graduate status from a CAAHEP/ABHES accredited program. Like other professional designations, the CMA (AAMA) is evidence of competence in a demanding field.
Information about this examination and recertification can be found at: http://www.aama-ntl.org/ and select CMA (AAMA) Exam from the links at the top of the page.
Certified Medical Assistants are in great demand. Employers across Iowa and surrounding regions often send ISMA current job openings and information regarding upcoming positions.
